KUALA LUMPUR: Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (Rehda) expects the Government to announce more incentives under Budget 2008 to boost the property sector.

The association’s wish list included stamp duty reduction on property transaction, an increase in the ceiling price of low-cost houses to RM60,000 from RM42,000 per unit and a further cut in corporate tax, said president Ng Seing Liong.

Deputy president Datuk Michael Yam said more goodies could be expected for the public sector.

“These goodies will boost the feel good factor. A reduction in stamp duty is a possibility as well as the easing of the withdrawal (procedure) from Employees Provident Fund accounts to buy property,” he told reporters after Rehda’s briefing on its property industry survey yesterday.
