Berjaya Land Bhd posted a net profit of RM17.36 million for the third quarter ended Jan 31, 2007, against a net loss of RM35.88 million a year ago, mainly due to the group equity accounted for a higher share of results from associate companies.
Announcing the results on March 21, the company said the turnaround in profitability was also due to gains realised on disposal of certain quoted investments, and write-back of impairment in value of certain quoted investments.
It said revenue rose 22% to RM134.59 million from RM109.93 million previously. Earnings per share was 1.81 sen.
For the nine months ended Jan 31, 2007, Berjaya Land’s net profit rose 31% to RM40.96 million from RM31.15 million a year ago, with a increase in revenue to RM380.92 million from RM366.48 million.
